Possessive Adjectives
(my, your, his/her/its, our, their)
For example: "This is my book" (not "This is the book of me"), "Their dog is very friendly" (not "The dog of them is very friendly").
Possessive pronouns are words that we use to show ownership or possession. They tell us who something belongs to without using a noun to describe it. There are five possessive pronouns: my, your, his, her, and their.
We use possessive pronouns when we want to avoid repeating a noun, or when we want to show that something belongs to someone. For example, instead of saying "This is the book of Maria", we can say "This is her book". This tells us that the book belongs to Maria, without using her name again.
So, when you hear or use these words, you know they are possessive pronouns. And by using them, we can make our sentences shorter and clearer, while still showing who something belongs to.
