Basic Prepositions

(in, on, under, etc.)

For example: "The book is on the table" (not "The book is the table"), "The cat is under the bed" (not "The cat is the bed").

Basic English prepositions are small words that help us describe the position or relationship between things. Common examples of basic prepositions include "in", "on", "at", "under", "over", "by", and "between".

We use these prepositions to show where something is or where it is going. For example, if we are talking about a book, we can say "The book is on the table" to show that the book is in a specific place. Or if we are talking about a bird, we can say "The bird is in the tree" to show where the bird is located.

Prepositions are important because they help us give more detail to our sentences and make them more specific. They can also help us give directions, talk about time, and describe relationships between people or objects. So, when you hear or use prepositions, you know they are describing the position or relationship between things, and they can help you give more detail to your sentences.
